Background

Who I Am

A systems focused engineer and business owner with a career built on reliability, practical problem solving, and long term thinking.

I have spent more than 27 years working in systems engineering, network infrastructure, hosting operations, and managed IT services. My experience covers enterprise networks, university datacenters, cloud environments, and long term service relationships with businesses that depend on their technology every day.

I approach every challenge with a calm, analytical mindset. I like to understand how things work under the hood, trace issues to their root causes, and then design solutions that are stable and maintainable. I am not interested in quick fixes that look clever but fail under pressure.

At my core, I am a builder and a problem solver. I take pride in doing things the right way, even when it takes more effort up front, because I know it saves time, money, and stress in the long run.

Services

My Approach to Hosting and MSP Services

Hands on, engineering driven, and focused on stable systems that stay out of the customer's way.

I take a direct, hands on approach to hosting and managed services. I am involved in the infrastructure, the tools, and the day to day reality of keeping systems online. This lets me make decisions based on how things actually behave, not how they look on a slide deck.

Through Twitch Inc and its DBA brands, I provide services such as:

  • Website and application hosting tuned for reliability and performance
  • Managed IT and MSP services for small and mid sized businesses
  • Server and network administration focused on security and stability
  • Email troubleshooting, DNS management, and domain support
  • Security and uptime monitoring for critical systems
  • Cloud migration planning and infrastructure design that fits real needs
For Customers

What Customers Can Expect From Me

When you work with me, you are not dealing with a faceless support queue. You are working with someone who takes personal responsibility for the systems you rely on.

💬

Clear and transparent communication

I explain issues and options in straightforward language. No jargon, no overselling, no vague promises. You will always know what is happening and why.

Fast and dependable support

When something breaks, I respond quickly and stay with the issue until it is fully resolved. No passing the problem around, no disappearing after a partial fix.

🔒

Stable, secure, well maintained systems

Careful configuration, regular maintenance, sensible security, and thoughtful monitoring. Stability is the result of many small decisions made correctly over time.

📈

Long term thinking and planning

I plan for where your business is going, not just where it is today. I avoid quick patches that cause trouble later and recommend solutions that can grow with you.

Respect for your time and goals

Technology is a means to an end. I work efficiently, coordinate changes carefully, and keep your goals at the center of every technical decision.

🤝

Trust and accountability

My goal is to build long term relationships you can rely on. Honest, consistent, and thorough. When I say I will take care of something, I follow through.

Leadership

How I Lead

I have led teams and projects across enterprises, universities, and my own company. My goal is always the same: support the people doing the work, provide clear direction, and create systems that make success more likely.

🛠

Experienced, hands on direction

I have done the jobs I now guide others through. That lets me set realistic expectations and design processes that actually work on the ground.

📚

Mentorship and knowledge sharing

I document systems, explain decisions, and give people the context they need to understand why things are built the way they are.

🧠

Calm, structured decision making

When outages and emergencies hit, I stay calm, focus on facts, and follow a methodical response. Fix the problem, then understand the cause.

Principles

The Philosophy Behind My Work

Guiding ideas that influence every project I take on, every recommendation I make, and every relationship I build with customers and teams.

Practical solutions

Solutions that do their job quietly and consistently. I avoid overcomplicated designs that look impressive on paper but fail in real life.

🔄

Continuous improvement

No system is ever truly finished. I focus on small, constant improvements that add up over time and create a stronger environment with less friction.

🔗

Systems thinking

I consider networks, applications, teams, and workflows as interconnected systems. It prevents fixes in one area from causing new problems elsewhere.

🌬

Calm under pressure

When things go wrong, I gather information, identify the source, and move through a structured response. No rushing into changes without context.

🛠

Quality and craftsmanship

Engineering is a craft. Whether designing an architecture or tuning a single config, quality shows up in the stability of the system that results.

Service oriented leadership

My role is to support customers and the people I work with: listen, explain, remove obstacles. Leadership is service, not status.

For Teams

What Employees and Peers Can Expect

A collaborative environment grounded in clarity, support, and shared responsibility.

  • A leader who listens and communicates clearly
  • Guidance from someone who understands the work firsthand
  • Clear standards, documentation, and expectations
  • An environment where questions and ideas are welcome
  • Support during difficult technical situations and high pressure moments
  • Opportunities to develop new skills and take on new responsibilities
  • A culture that values reliability, quality, and long term thinking
In my own words
"I believe technology should make life easier, not harder. My job is to build systems that stay out of the customer's way, support the people who maintain them, and keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes. If you need to contact or interact with your IT person or department, they aren't doing their jobs." Russ Lohman, Dec 2025
